A reunion to bring
all Acushnet students together!
High school reunions are an American tradition, but one that Acushnet residents have been missing out on for years. In the absence of a town high school, Acushnet students have gone to other school districts, thereby ending the camaraderie between Acushnet students. Although many Acushnet students attend reunions for the high school they attended, several members of the Acushnet Alumni, have joined forces to organize a reunion. Students from Acushnet's then five elementary schools entered Acushnet Junior High School, which was renamed Albert F. Ford Junior High during their stay.
On Sept. 27, 2008 most of them will gather at the Century House in Acushnet for a long-overdue reunion. Organizers have been gathering old photographs to display at the reunion. For more information about the reunion, contact Ms. Julie(Girard)Marchetti at acushnetclassreunion@comcast.net.

Are you a Reason, a Season, or a Lifetime?

People come into your life for
a reason, a season, or a lifetime.
When you figure out which one it is, you will know what to do for each person.

REASON:

When someone is in your life for a REASON. . . It is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend, and they are! They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrong doing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.Sometimes they die.Sometimes they walk away.Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered.

And now it is time to move on. SEASON:

When people come into your life for a SEASON it is because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.

Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.

LIFETIME:

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons; things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Thank you for being a part of my life.

Stop here and just SMILE.

Here are some lyrics, we'd like to share with you,

Thanks Binx ;-)

“100 Years” ~ Five for Fighting

I'm fifteen for a moment

Caught in between ten and twenty

and I'm just dreaming

counting the ways to where you are

I'm twenty-two for a moment

and she feels better than ever

and we're on fire

making our way back from mars

Fifteen, there's still time for you

Time to buy and time to lose

Fifteen There's never a wish better than this

When you only got a hundred years to live

I'm thirty-three for a moment

I'm still the man

but you see I'm a they

A kid on the way, babe

A family on my mind

I'm fourty-five for a moment

The sea is high

and I'm heading into a crisis

chasing the years of my life

Fifteen, there's still time for you

Time to buy and time to lose yourself within a morning star

Fifteen, I'm alright with you

Fifteen

There's never a wish better than this

When you only got a hundred years to live

How the time goes by

Suddenly, you're wise

Another blink of an eye, sixty-seven is gone

The sun is getting high

We're moving on...

I'm ninety-nine for a moment

Dying for just another moment

and I'm just dreaming

counting the ways to where you are

Fifteen, there's still time for you

Twenty-Two, I feel her, too

Thirty-Three, you're on your way

Every day's a new day...

Ooooooh ,Ooooooh ,Oooooooooh ,Oooh

Fifteen, there's still time for you

Time to buy and time to choose

Hey, fifteen

There's never a wish better than this

when you only got a hundred years to live.

Acushnet students attended 5 different elementary schools, Long Plain, Marie S. Howard, Mason W. Burt, Parting Ways, and St. Francis School, (some of us belong to St Francis CCD, and CYO, we would gather, listening to the juke box, dancing, playing bumper pool and ping pong.) We were also involved with Girl / Boy Scouts, and little league.

We all met at the middle school "Acushnet Jr. High", in 1966.
After 8th or 9th grade graduation, we again separated to 7 different High Schools, New Bedford High School, Fairhaven High School, New Bedford Voke, Apponequet, Bishop Stang, St. Anthony's, Tabor Academy.

And we still don't get to see each other at our high school reunions.
Now that all our children are older, we can have some time for each other, again, well at least once a year!
